This image illustrates the incongruous outfits worn to the Victorian seaside compared with modern day beach attire: note the father's top hat juxtaposed with the hobnail boots on all of the children. </image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2015-08-18T19:38:47+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://britishtintypes.com/2015/06/07/victorian-britain-and-the-tintype-photograph-an-exhibition-of-victorian-tintypes-curated-by-sheila-masson/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://britishtintypes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/massontintypepostcardmontagesmall.jpg</image:loc><image:title>MassonTintypePostcardMontageSmalL</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2015-08-18T19:38:24+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://britishtintypes.com/2015/08/18/working-stiffs/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://britishtintypes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/beachphotographerpostcard2.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Victorian postcard</image:title><image:caption>An up-to-date Gainsborough. “Arriet”

¼ plate tintype

Sheila Masson Collection

The pose and subject matter of this image suggest that this man was particularly proud of his large draught horse and cart. Furthermore, ¼ plate tintypes were relatively uncommon and would have been more expensive than the typical 1/16th plates sold in Britain. Note the crazing of the collodion surface across the plate and the bubbling and rusting around the outside perimeter.</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2015-08-18T18:53:24+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://britishtintypes.com/2015/08/04/arts-press-blog-post-on-victorian-britain-and-the-tintype-photograph/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://britishtintypes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/tt111.jpg</image:loc><image:title>TT111</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://britishtintypes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/tt016.jpg</image:loc><image:title>TT016</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2015-08-04T12:44:04+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://britishtintypes.com/2015/07/11/press-for-victorian-britain-and-the-tintype-photograph/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://britishtintypes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/scotsman-weekendlife-2015-07-11-p.jpg</image:loc><image:title>SCotsman WeekendLIfe 2015-07-11 p</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2015-07-11T15:01:28+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://britishtintypes.com/about/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://britishtintypes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/tintypemontageflattenedcropped.jpg</image:loc><image:title>TintypeMontageFlattenedCropped</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2015-06-07T15:15:52+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.6</priority></url><url><loc>https://britishtintypes.com</loc><changefreq>daily</changefreq><priority>1.0</priority><lastmod>2015-12-29T15:34:54+00:00</lastmod></url></urlset>
